What is a postpartum consultant?

Mary B. Flynn founded Bay Area Baby Squad after being a postpartum doula for over 16 years and saw the need to support new parents throughout the Bay Area. Mary is renowned for her calm nature and her first hand experience with any newborn care issues.

During the past five years Mary has changed her business mode to helping news parents balance the struggle of going back to work and having a newborn. Issues such as feeding by either bottle or breast, combination feeding, sleep training can be worked through in just a one hour virtual consultation with Mary. Along with being a leader and developer in evidence-based doula training, Mary is a sleep specialist, lactation educator, certified EMT, CPR certified trainer, and certified CPS expert (Child Passenger Safety).

Bay Area Baby Squad started out as a doula agency providing parents in the Bay Area the best doulas and has quickly evolved throughout the years to becoming the first of its kind as a postpartum consultant agency that serves the entire new parent workforce.

Bay Area Baby Squad provides parents the confidence they need to balance work and home life while also teaching them the tools often needed to focus on their well being when returning to work. Mary provides parents with a vast catalog of tools and resources they can utilize to choose how they want to parent. Mary offers virtual and in person consulting to parents throughout the country.

Mary and Bay Area Baby Squad are also utilized in the corporate world by helping employers retain their new parent employees by meeting each individual family’s parenting goals. Research shows that when a company and employer support their new parent employees, employees perform better and have better retention rates.
